New River Announces the Appointment of New Independent Member of the Board of Directors

Dan Oglevee will enhance New River’s strategic goal of growth and expansion as a vital consultant.

IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 7, 2024 

CLOVERDALE, VIRGINIA—On August 7, 2024, the New River Electrical ESOP Trustees announced the appointment of Dan Oglevee as an Independent Member of the Board, bringing the number of board members to seven. Mr. Oglevee currently divides his time between teaching at The Ohio State University in the Fisher College of Business and advising Early-Stage companies.

“I’m excited to have Dan join the New River Board as an external director and feel his background in academia and entrepreneurship brings a lot to the table,” stated New River’s Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Treasurer, Melanie R. Fitzgerald, CPA. “These qualities, coupled with his ability to think outside the box will challenge us to view things through a different lens, to drive us towards New River Electrical’s strategic plan and vision”. 

Mr. Oglevee started his nine-year career on Wall Street with firms including Oppenheimer, Morgan Stanley, and Merrill Lynch before joining a boutique Venture Capital firm focused on the Wireless and Energy Industry. Before transitioning into consulting and higher education, Dan gained operating experience with two companies he co-founded during the Internet boom. As a Senior Lecturer for the Department of Finance at The Ohio State University, Dan teaches in the Executive MBA and both Graduate and Undergraduate programs. His courses specialize in venture capital, private equity, financial modeling, corporate finance, and entrepreneurial finance. Dan has been recognized for his teaching, winning multiple Executive MBA, MBA and Undergraduate teaching awards including the Daniel Westerbeck Teaching Excellence Award, the highest honor for teaching at Fisher, for sustained excellence in teaching. Dan received both his M.B.A. and B.S. in Business Administration from The Ohio State University.
