More Than 260 Attendees Convene in Granville for America’s Energy Future

Some events celebrate what has already been accomplished. 

Others help shape what comes next. 

On July 7, just days after America celebrated its 250th birthday, New River Electrical (NRE) brought together an extraordinary group of leaders who are helping shape the nation’s next chapter—one built on energy, innovation, workforce development and the infrastructure that will power generations to come.  

At America’s Energy Moment: Building the Infrastructure That Powers Our Future, representatives from federal and state government, regulatory agencies, organized labor, economic development organizations, industry associations and private enterprise came together at NRE’s new Granville Regional Headquarters and Construction Support Complex for a conversation that was bigger than any single project. 

This wasn’t a ceremonial ribbon cutting. 

It was an opportunity for the people writing policy, those funding the projects, and the construction teams building America’s grid to sit at the same table and talk openly about one question: 

How do we build America’s energy future faster, together?

The event highlighted New River Electrical’s continued investment in America’s electric infrastructure through workforce development, transmission construction, engineering capabilities, regional expansion and strategic partnerships. Hosted at the company’s new Granville Regional Headquarters and Construction Support Complex, the event focused on the policies, investments and collaboration needed to modernize America’s power grid and meet rapidly growing electricity demand.

The event also gathered 250 attendees from across government, labor, utilities, manufacturing, economic development and the energy infrastructure industry.

The significance wasn’t simply who attended. It was why they came. 

NEW RIVER ELECTRICAL BRINGS LEADERS TOGETHER TO SHAPE AMERICA’S ENERGY FUTURE

For more than 73 years, NRE has helped build America’s electric infrastructure. Today, with more than 2,500 employee-owners and nearing $1.5 billion in sales, the company continues investing ahead of America’s growing energy needs. 

America is entering one of the most significant periods of infrastructure investment in generations. Electricity demand continues to accelerate as artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, domestic energy production, and data centers reshape the nation’s economy. Meeting that demand will require more transmission lines, substations, extra-high-voltage infrastructure, and millions of skilled workers ready to build it. 

Today, NRE trains more new electrical apprentices in this region than any other contractor—an investment that strengthens both the workforce and the communities it serves. 

THE CHALLENGE ISN’T DEMAND. IT’S CERTAINTY.

Yet throughout the day, one message became impossible to ignore. Building the future isn’t just about engineering. It’s about certainty. 

For contractors like NRE, the challenge isn’t finding work—it’s creating the certainty necessary to continue investing in people. Companies, including NRE, spend years recruiting, training and developing skilled craft professionals before many projects ever begin. When permitting delays or regulatory uncertainty postpone projects, those investments—and the people behind them—are left waiting.

The discussions at the event were not political, but rather practical in nature. Conversations about how to build faster, train more people, remove unnecessary barriers and keep America’s workforce working.  

Administrator Zeldin discussed the EPA’s efforts to modernize permitting, improve regulatory certainty and demonstrate that environmental stewardship and economic growth are not competing priorities but complementary ones. Congressman Balderson shared perspectives from Congress on strengthening America’s energy future, while Representative Holmes highlighted Ohio’s leadership in addressing energy policy and the growing demands created by data centers and economic development. 

The discussion reinforced a simple truth: America’s energy future will require unprecedented collaboration among policymakers, regulators, utilities, organized labor, manufacturers, contractors and economic development leaders.

INVESTING AHEAD OF AMERICA’S GROWTH

Guests toured NRE’s new Granville Regional Headquarters and Construction Support Complex, consisting of a Fleet Maintenance Facility and Operations Support Facility, seeing firsthand the company’s continued investments in facilities, fleet, engineering capabilities and workforce development. Those investments continue to grow, with the opening of NRE’s third Virginia office in Richmond this June, and a new Dallas-Fort Worth office planned later this year. 

The formal program began with the Pledge of Allegiance led by NRE employee-owner Jason Stanley, who continues to serve in the Ohio Air National Guard—a reminder that service has always been at the heart of building this country. His leadership set the tone for a program centered on service—to our country, our customers, and one another.  

Following remarks from Ike Poe, United States Congressman Balderson, Representative Holmes and Administrator Zeldin, the company officially dedicated its new Granville Regional Headquarters and Construction Support Complex with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. 

For those in attendance, the day represented far more than the opening of a new facility. It demonstrated what can happen when the people writing policy sit beside the people building America’s infrastructure. There was a genuine sense of both urgency and optimism that, by working together, we can remove barriers, strengthen the workforce and build the infrastructure that will power America’s next generation of growth.
