Field Service Technician

Position Title: Field Service Technician

Location: Northwest Ohio and Indiana Region

Reports to: Ohio Garage Supervisor

Job Summary: The Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of company owned and occasional outside rental equipment in a field environment while maintaining an acceptable level of productivity and end user satisfaction


      • High School diploma or GED
      • Successful completion of a service technician development program is preferred but not required
      • 5+ years experience in heavy equipment, truck, or electric power generation system mechanic repair
      • Have a strong comprehensive knowledge of Electrical and Electronic system theory, Hydraulics, Diesel and Gasoline engines; Crane/Boom truck and Aerial Platform experience is a plus
      • Use and application of diagnostic tools and software
      • Electrical and electronic system applications
      • Problem solving techniques and repair options for various machines, engines, and components
      • Basic keyboarding skills and preferred experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, etc.)
      • Must possess a valid Driver’s License, Medical Card, and prefer a Class B or A CDL
      • Must pass pre-employement drug screen


Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Promptly, at start of shift, review work schedule, check equipment and supplies required to perform the work scheduled, and prepare for operations
  • Work independently with little to no supervision at times
  • Determine the technical or physical status of trucks and equipment using the on-board computer, service documents, scan tools, etc.
  • Verify findings, review readings of gauges and procedures and compare to manufacturers specs
  • Order or obtain from stock or send parts to special service shop to make the appropriate tooling and alterations
  • Install, replace, re-build or repair the parts and /or equipment in a timely manner and according to specifications
  • Test the part or equipment and perform quality check after work is complete
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned and maintain company vehicles
  • At the end of shift, secure all equipment and machinery and complete all required paperwork
  • Ensure departmental compliance with all safety and contamination control guidelines
  • Maintain productivity at predetermined levels
  • Perform any additional duties as required
