Overhead Distribution

New River’s safe, skilled and highly productive overhead line workforce stands ready to serve our clients overhead construction and maintenance needs. Our lineman and apprentices are trained and certified by the nationally accredited IBEW/NECA JATC Apprenticeship programs and are qualified to safely perform all aspects of energized distribution work from 4kv to 34.5kv.

Typical distribution projects include:

  • Circuit patrol, inspection, maintenance and inventory
  • “Make Ready” modifications to allow phone and cable TV attachment
  • Construction of new three phase and single phase circuits
  • Line reconductoring
  • Voltage upgrade projects
  • Pole replacement
  • “Quality of Service” maintenance activities
  • Switch regulator, Recloser and capacitor additions and maintenance programs
  • New service installations
  • Line relocations for Highway projects

Overhead Transmission

New River’s Overhead line division is also experienced in performing overhead transmission line projects on voltages ranging from 40kv to 765kv. We focus on maintenance related work and transmission line projects up to 10 miles or $10 million.

Areas of expertise include:

  • Drilled shaft foundations to 9ft. diameter , 60 ft deep
  • Wood pole with distribution underbuild
  • Steel or Concrete Pole erection
  • Wood H-Frame erection
  • Lattice tower erection
  • Reconductor projects
  • OPGW Fiber optic installation
